Tropical Heat

We know you don't want to cook in this tropical heat and that is why sandwiches are the perfect summer meal, especially when they are served up on our fresh, delicious breads! Here are a couple ideas for you.

Got Veggies?
You know Uncle Sam wants you to have 5 servings a day, and right about now, all those wonderful veggies you planted this spring should be ready for plucking. We recommend you slice up some tomatoes, cukes, grab a handful of fresh lettuce and throw it all between two slices of our grainy bread, like High Five Fiber or Whole Grain Goodness. Add a little spreadable cheese, and a couple leaves of basil and you will not be sad.

Barbecue. Yummmmm...
Our Challah Rolls make the perfect bread for a little pulled pork. A quick and easy way to make it is cook a couple pork chops and the pull them apart into little shredded bits. Add your favorite barbecue sauce, heat and serve. Cook the meat early in the day before it gets too hot out and serve it with some chips, coleslaw and fresh lemonade.

Picnic anyone?
Have you figured out that kids really enjoy eating outside? Make dinner really easy and have a family picnic outside. Don't bother with fancy, gourmet foods. Grab a loaf of Old Fashion White Bread and throw together some good old PB&J. Yes, for dinner! It has lots of protein and you know your kids will eat it. It's summer, have fun. You can serve a lovely fruit salad or some cherries and watermelon so you can have a seed spitting contest.

Don't forget it's Wednesday!
Today's Baker's Special is Mediterranean Olive.

We hope to see you soon. Your friends at the Great Harvest in Columbia.
