What to do with an Extra Hour?

Make Pancakes of course! You were probably thinking of sleeping away that extra hour you get on Sunday morning when Daylight Savings Time ends (or does it start?). But why sleep when you can make your family pancakes?

Great Harvest has wonderful Whole Grain Pancake Mix that make some delicious hearty pancakes that will help your kids recover from their Halloween excess in healthy style. We also have Pumpkin Spice Pancake Mix. If waffles are more your thing, don't fret! You can use the same recipe on the package to make waffles!

You may remember the delectable Ginger Bread Pancake Mix we had last winter. That will be back on the shelf very soon, too.

While you are making the pancakes, have someone change your smoke detector batteries!

We hope to see you soon. Your friends at the Great Harvest in Columbia.

Here is some new stuff! We know how much you love Maggie and Mary's Soup mixes, so we got some Dip mixes, too. The Perfect Veggie Dip is very popular already, but we think the Caramelized Onion and Sesame Parmesan are to die for!

Pumpkin everything is very popular at this time of year, so we got Maggie and Mary's Pumpkin Soup Mix. If pumpkin soup isn't your think, we also got Chicken Dumpling, Chill Chasin' Chili and Creamy Wild Rice.

We really love these new cheeseball mixes from Kitchen Dancer, especially the Orange Cranberry. Just mix them up with cream cheese and butter and you will have the perfect spread for our delicious breads. We especially love the Orange Cranberry on our High Five Fiber, available every Wednesday.

Oh Joy!

As in our joyful Chocolate Almond Coconut Scone, featured as today's Baker's Special Scone. It reminds me of something, but what?

Apples and Pumpkins
We know how much you love apples and pumpkins in the fall and today we aim to please with a little bit of each! We have Apple Crunch Bread, with big chunks of granny smith apples and that delectable brown sugar and cinnamon topping. For you pumpkin lovers, we have Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Batter Bread and Muffins. On this lovely fall day, both would make excellent after school snacks!

Something for you Stew?
If you're looking for something to serve with your soup or stew, may we recommend our Parmesan Sourdough? It's an excellent bread to soak up that last little bit of sauce in the bottom of your bowl.

Ode to Pumpkin Swirl

Oh, bread of fall, with filling sweet
Why are you so good to eat?

Your nutmeg flavor fills my senses
With autumn visions and romances.

Thursday seems so long in coming
I bite into you and start humming

Of falling leaves and air so crisp
I serve you on a pretty dish.

Oh, bread of fall, with filling sweet
You are so very good to eat.

Our bread is much better than our poetry! Stop by Thursdays in October and sample our Pumpkin Swirl bread. You will not be sad.

October Is Here!

We were talking in the middle of last week and someone said that it is only 90 days until Christmas and 97 until the new year arrives! Where is the year going too? For Halloween we will have our special decorated cookies and lots of pumpkin! Pumpkin bars, pumpkin whoopees, pumpkin swirls, pumpkin choc. chip, (I'm starting to feel like Forrest Gump : ) and other great treats.

GH is doing a bread this month for the BOOMER and taking the bakery to WOODSTOCK!!!!!!!! No not N.Y. but a grain bread named Woodstock - - Sunflower, millet, flax, walnuts and pecans. It is yummy and good for us boomers in many ways : ) It will be our Tuesday grain bread. We have other special treats so read the menu to see what we have and when.

The bakery has some fabulous sandwiches, If you haven't tried them yet! And we are now doing lunch trays and breakfast trays for meetings, social events and all occasions. The response has been good and we have coupons for trays, sandwiches, free coffee and bread in this month's Consumer Eye so keep a look out for it.

We truly appreciate the loyal community base that we have and enjoy serving you, talking with you as friends and trying to do our part as members of GREAT community called Howard County. Thank you for your patronage and all your support of us. Keep spreading the word!!
