Lenten Lunch

What do you get when two Catholic women open a bakery? A great place to find Lenten lunches! Both our soups today are vegetarian, something we will keep up through the Lenten season. We also have some really amazing Tuna Salad and several meat-free sandwiches. (This blogger's personal favorite is the Power House. Yummmmmm.)

Looking for a sweet treat but, maybe the King Cake thing is over for you? Come in and try some delicious Sour Cream Fruit Pie. It's PIEDAY every Friday at the Great Harvest!

We hope to see you soon! You're friends at the Great Harvest in Columbia.

More New Stuff

We have a bunch of new stuff! We're so excited! In addition to the fabulous Gluten Free bake mixes from Stonewall Kitchen, we got in some delicious new marinades. The Thai Marinade has ginger, lemon grass and lime and is perfect for chicken or fish. It's soothing aromas will also help anyone with a miserable mid-winter cold feel so much better!

For something a little more heady (and kind of romantic), try the Burgundy Marinade. With red wine, worcestershire, dijon and garlic, it's great for beef but also does wonders for portobello mushrooms. Don't be afraid to be creative with these. Use them to flavor soups or even make a salad dressing.

We also have some wonderful new pottery. Stay tuned for pictures of that! We hope to see you soon! Your friends at the Great Harvest in Columbia.

As you may know, we feature many excellent products from Stonewall Kitchens and we are very excited to tell you, we now have Stonewall Kitchen Gluten Free Mixes! We're starting off with three; Brownies, Vanilla Cupcakes and Chocolate Chunk Cookies. Come in and grab a box and please tell us what you think! If they turn out to be a hit, we'll try more!

Every Day is a Challah Day at GH!

We spend so much time mentioning our specialty breads and sweets, we often forget about the standards that keep us so busy, like our Challah. If you aren't familiar with it, Challah is a traditional Jewish egg bread, braided with four ropes of dough, that is often eaten on the Jewish sabbath and other Jewish holidays. In addition to its religious significance for many of our customers, this bread is just plain yummy! It makes a great sandwich, magnificent French Toast and is fabulous in Bread Pudding. We are regularly asked to bake extra large Challah for Bar and Bat Mitzvah celebrations.

Stop by and try this delicate yet versatile taste treat! We hope to see you soon! Your friends at the Great Harvest in Columbia.
