Fruit Pies are Back, Too!

And King Cakes are available by order only in January and daily from February 1st to February 9th. We encourage you to place an order as these tasty treats are very hard to keep in stock.

OMG!!! Only 23 days until Christmas!! Don't worry! Great Harvest is here to help with your holiday and gift and dinner needs. Here are some highlights of our December offerings.

Chocolate Babka is on the menu for the entire month. This is a rare occurrence so please don't miss out! We roll out our sweet dough, lay on an abundance of chocolate and roll it up. This delectable dessert is perfect for your Hanukkah celebration. We recommend that you call ahead and place an order. Babkas go fast!

New to our menu this year is a Kentucky Bourbon Bread. This awesome bread starts with dried apricots, figs and golden raisins soaked overnight in good ol' Kentucky Bourbon and apple juice. We then add the walnut and pecan filled batter made from our freshly milled whole wheat flour. This amazing treat is available in very limited quantities. Ours is the BEST

Need an excellent recipe for Thanksgiving stuffing? Ours is fantastic. And even though we have cute little bright colored pieces of paper right by the register with the recipe on them, we'll put it here so you don't have to keep track of that pesky paper.

Old Fashioned Bread Stuffing

2 TBSP butter 1 to 2 TSP dried marjoram

1 1/2 cups chopped onion 1 TSP dried thyme

1 1/2 cups chopped celery 1/2 TSP salt

A bag of stuffing bread from GHBC 1/4 TSP pepper

1/2 cup chopped parsley 1 stick butter, melted

1 egg, beaten 1 TSP dried sage

1/3 to 1 cup chicken broth

Melt 2 TBSP of butter and saute onion and celery until tender, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

Place the bread in a large bowl and add parsley, sage, marjoram, thyme, salt and pepper, onion and celery. Toss to mix. Add the stick of melted butter and blend well. Add egg and work thoroughly through stuffing mixture. Add broth to moisten.

You can use the stuffing to loosely stuff the turkey (prepare your turkey according to the recipe you are using) or you can bake it in a well greased dish at 350 degrees for 25 minutes until lightly brown on top.

Don't Forget Dessert

Pie is nice but if you want to really impress your guests, why not get one of our fabulous Pumpkin Ohs, as in OH IS THIS SO GOOD OR WHAT? Imagine moist pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting rolled up and sprinkled with powdered sugar. Call today and order one for your feast. Stuffing is a must on every Thanksgiving table and we have the best bread to use for your stuffing.; Stuffing Bread. It's complete with onion, celery, garlic and all the herbs and spices that make that wonderful Thanksgiving aroma that you love. And if you're looking for a new stuffing recipe, we have one for you. Tuesday - Pumpkin Swirl Bread - See October 11th post for a lovely tribute to this bread.

Wednesday - Pumpkin Ohs - OMG!!! Have you tried this moist pumpkin cake roll filled with cream cheese frosting, rolled up and sprinkled with powdered sugar? If not, make us your first stop next week. Pumpkin Ohs go fast! We also have Pumpkin Cranberry Walnut Bread on Wednesdays.

Thursday - Pumpkin Bars - This is like a brownie, except pumpkin instead of chocolate. Heavens, are they lovely.

November to be Thankful For

We have so many wonderful breads this November, you probably won't know where to begin! Cranberry Orange, a holiday favorite is back and available on Thursdays this month. This bread is so great, we also feature it on our Gobbler Special sandwich, but there will be more about that in a bit. Filled with dried cranberries and lots of pureed orange, this bread fills your head with visions of your beautifully set Thanksgiving table.

If you crave something savory, Stuffing Bread is for you. We aren't kidding. This bread, with all your favorite herbs and spices, smells just like stuffing so it's a natural choice for your Thanksgiving table. You can use it for your stuffing or just let everyone pull off big hunks.

Many of you will beg and plead with us to make Pumpkins Ohs all year but we have to resist. But the time has arrived and Pumpkin Ohs are BACK!!! Get them on Wednesdays. We recommend ordering these in advance as they go fast.

What to do with an Extra Hour?

Make Pancakes of course! You were probably thinking of sleeping away that extra hour you get on Sunday morning when Daylight Savings Time ends (or does it start?). But why sleep when you can make your family pancakes?

Great Harvest has wonderful Whole Grain Pancake Mix that make some delicious hearty pancakes that will help your kids recover from their Halloween excess in healthy style. We also have Pumpkin Spice Pancake Mix. If waffles are more your thing, don't fret! You can use the same recipe on the package to make waffles!

You may remember the delectable Ginger Bread Pancake Mix we had last winter. That will be back on the shelf very soon, too.

Here is some new stuff! We know how much you love Maggie and Mary's Soup mixes, so we got some Dip mixes, too. The Perfect Veggie Dip is very popular already, but we think the Caramelized Onion and Sesame Parmesan are to die for!

Pumpkin everything is very popular at this time of year, so we got Maggie and Mary's Pumpkin Soup Mix. If pumpkin soup isn't your think, we also got Chicken Dumpling, Chill Chasin' Chili and Creamy Wild Rice.
