Here Comes Peter Cottontail!

It's BUNNY TIME!!!

We are so excited to be getting ready for full blown bunny time. If you have no idea what we're talking about, look to that cute picture in the upper left corner of this post. Each year for Easter, we make the most adorable and tasty, Honey Bunnies from our Honey Whole Wheat Bread. This bread is slightly sweet and melt in your mouth delicious on its own, but turn it into a cute little bunny and it may be more than you can handle.

We will have Honey Bunnies to sell in the store, but your best bet for securing a bunny for your Easter celebration is calling ahead and ordering one. We are hoping to have all orders in by Tuesday, March 30 so we can plan our production schedule for the rest of the week.

Dressed up and ready to go!
Our bunnies will come to your home all dressed for your table, with jelly bean eyes and a lovely pastel ribbon (please, no color requests. Let us decorate for you). There will be plenty of other Easter treats for you to choose from. Come by and see us!

We hope to see you soon. Your friends at the Great Harvest in Columbia.

St. Patty's Day Special!!!

Today only we are making our delicious Reuben Bread. We take our Rye bread and stuff it with lean corned beef, aged swiss cheese and sauerkraut and bake it to perfection. We recommend slicing this and serving it with a big green salad (get it? GREEN salad?) for a wonderful St. Patrick's Day feast.

Like all our Baker's Specials, Reuben Bread will be baked in limited quantities. Call now and reserve yours.

We hope to see you soon. Your friends at the Great Harvest in Columbia.

Break out the Grill

Now that the snow has melted and the rain has past, you aren't going to let a little mud get in the way of your grilling, are you? We have so many ideas for you so fire up that grill and read on for some great ideas.

We rearranged our shelves so our Stonewall Kitchen Grilling Sauces and Marinades really stand out. Most of these sauces are great with the meat of your choice. Many are also fantastic with vegetables.

And wait until you see the Pino Oils. When the sun comes through the window, they radiate the colors of warmth and remind us that winter is a memory, a cold, snowy, school-less, memory. In addition to being great simply for using as a dip for our savory bread, we like to brush it on our Sourdough which we then throw on the grill for a great accompaniment to your entree.

We are ready to get you into the spirit of grilling again. Come in and ask us about what we use on our grills.

We hope to see you soon. Your friends at the Great Harvest in Columbia.

History Lesson

Did you know the history of Hot Crossed Buns? You may associate the name with the little ditty your child learned when they first started playing violin, but Hot Crossed Buns are really a delicious baked good. These slightly sweet rolls, often baked with dried fruit, are made in the Lenten season and are iced with a cross shape as a symbol of the crucifixion.

Of course, not everyone observes Lent. Many people viewed the four sections of the roll made by the cross shaped icing as a representation of the four quarters of the moon.

Of course, who has the BEST Hot Crossed Buns in Howard County? Why Great Harvest, of course! Hot Crossed Buns are available throughout March, on Thursdays and will also be available for your Easter dinner.

Stop in and try them soon! Your friends at the Great Harvest in Columbia.

No Lions Here!

But lots of tasty treats to bring out the green in everyone.

Enjoy fresh, made from scratch Irish specialities for St. Patty's Day and beyond. We will, of course, have Irish Soda bread and Irish Potato bread. But in addition to those classics, we will be offering Reuben Bread with lean corned beef, Swiss cheese and sauerkraut swirled throughout caraway rye and Gouda and Stout Bread.

If you can't get to the Blarney Stone this month, come try our Chocolate Mint Blarney cookies along with Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bread, and many other sweet treats. We've also brought back our Reuben and Rachel Sandwiches which we aren't too proud to boast, are the finest in town!

Come in and see what's baking today! We hope to see you soon. Your friends at the Great Harvest in Columbia.
